His paternal grandparents were Henry Bond Liversage and Martha Petronella van Jaarsveld. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Henry, Cornelius, Isak, Adriaan, Henry, Samuel, Cecilia, Martha, Suzanna and Harriet.-
