Gerhardus , known as Gerhard or Manie, was born on June 24th, 1798 in Zuurveld, Graaff Reinet.

Birth Notes

Gerhard or Manie's father was c8 Salomon Maritz and his mother was Maria Elizabeth Oosthuizen. His paternal grandparents were Johannes Stephanus Maritz and Martha Maria Pienaar. He had a sister named Maria. He was the older of the two children. He died at the age of 40 on September 23rd, 1838 in Sooilaer (Maritzdam), Klein-Tugela river. He was buried in Reburied near Blaauwkranz monument2.
