Anna (Annie) Margeritta Martens (Annie Margaret) 
Anna, known as Annie, was born on May 1st, 1846 in Graaff Reinet. Annie's father was Jacobus Cornelis Martens and her mother was Margaretha Susanna Cloete. Her paternal grandparents were Jan Thomas(1) Martens and Anna Maria Isabella Coetzee; her maternal grandparents were Gabriel Francois Cloete and Susanna Elizabeth van Zyl. She had a brother and seven sisters, named Jan, Susanna, Margaretha, Maria, Jacoba, Geertruida, Martha and Dina. She was the second oldest of the nine children. She died at the age of 65 on May 26th, 1911 in St. Lukes, Greytown.General Notes

Emily Charlotte Cloete Turpin told the family she was on the wagons given a free pass through one of the battles in 1879 by Cetewayo - she would have been about 3 years old and been with, I presume, her mother Annie Margritta Martens.
At death her address was ; St. Lukes Mission, Engabeni, Alfred division, Natal.
