Bettie's father was Adriaan Lourens Albertus Martins and her mother was Alberta Hendrieka Jacoba Maartens. Her paternal grandparents were Hendrik Johannes Maartens and Johanna Elisabeth Hatting. She has a brother and three sisters, named Charles, Mybel, Williamina and Gurty. She had four half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Hendrik, John, Sarel, Attie, Mettie and Baba.General Notes

She was a beautiful woman. They lived in Vanderbijlpark for most of their lives.
