Willem was born in 1739. Willem's father was JanHendrikOosthuizen and his mother was Anna Botha. His paternal grandparents were Johannes Oosthuizen and Johanna (Jannetje) Maartens; his maternal grandparents were Willem Botha and Catharina Pyl. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Johannes, Gerrit, Gerrit, Marthinus, Frederik, Jacobus, Catharina, Johanna, Anna and Johanna. He was the third oldest of the eleven children.-
