Neeltjie Christina Smith

Neeltjie was born on August 30th, 1874.  Neeltjie's father was Johannes Hendrick Smith and his mother was Neeltje Christina van der Merwe. He had two brothers and four sisters, named David, Johannes, Catrina, Elizabeth, Anna and Johanna.  He was the third youngest of the seven children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Willem and Aletta.
