Margariet was born before January 8th, 1719 in Stellenbosch. Margariet's father was Johannes (Jan) Coutie/Coetzee and her mother was Anna Elizabeth Paal. Her paternal grandfather was Dirk "Dirck, Derk" Coetzee and her paternal grandmother is Sarah van der Schulp; her maternal grandparents were Helmer Paal and Jacoba Norden. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Dirck, Jan, Jacobus, Sarah and Anna. She was the third youngest of the six children.General Notes
