Sarah was born before December 10th, 1713 in Stellenbosch. Sarah's father was Johannes (Jan) Coutie/Coetzee and her mother was Anna Elizabeth Paal. Her paternal grandfather was Dirk "Dirck, Derk" Coetzee and her paternal grandmother is Sarah van der Schulp; her maternal grandparents were Helmer Paal and Jacoba Norden. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Dirck, Jan, Jacobus, Anna and Margariet. She was the second oldest of the six children.General Notes
