James (Jimmy) John Higgs

James, known as Jimmy, was born on May 12th, 1913. Jimmy's father was James Higgs and his mother was Gertruida (Gerty) Catharina Du Plessis. His paternal grandparents were Willem (Oupa Rollie) Higgs and Elsje (Ouma Ellie) Carolina Liebenberg; his maternal grandparents were Hendrik Stephanus Du Plessis and Susanna Catharina Schoeman. He had a brother and three sisters, named Willem, Dolly, Stella and Joyce. He was the third oldest of the five children.
