Gert Lodevikus Maartens 
Gert was born on October 19th, 1918 and his baptism took place on January 26th, 1919 in Cedarville, Dist. Matatiele. Gert's father was Nicolaas Francois Maartens and his mother was Anna Martha Christina Pelser. His paternal grandparents were Gert Lodewicus Maartens and Elizabeth Cornelia Fredrika Smith. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Johannes, Nicolaas, Martin, Maria, Elizabeth, Anna and Cornelia. He died due to a respiratory problem and/or pneumonia at the age of 70 on October 29th, 1988 in Kokstad.General Notes
