Jan Andries Maartens 
Jan was born about October 1873. Jan's father was Isak van der Merwe Maartens and his mother was Johanna Christina Watkins. His paternal grandparents were Johannes Lodewicus Maartens and Maartje (Maartje) Aletta Hendrina van der Merwe. He had three brothers named Isak, Christiaan and Isak. He was the oldest of the four children. He died on April 17th, 1928 in Rossouw, dist. Wodehouse.-
