Petrus Jacobus Maartens 
Petrus was born on November 14th, 1841 in Graaff Reinet and his baptism took place there on January 16th, 1842. Petrus' father was Joachim Hendrik Martens and his mother was Louisa Maria Grobbelaar. His paternal grandparents were Matthÿs Daniel Martens and Susanna Haarhof; his maternal grandparents were Johannes Jacobus Grobbelaar and Elizabeth Margaretha van Jaarsveld. He had eight brothers and four sisters, named Matthys, Johannes, Hendrik, Albertus, Paulus, Choert, Willem Golden Fleece, Nicolaas, Elizabeth, Susanna, Louisa and Susanna. He was the second youngest of the thirteen children. He died due to a cardiac arrest, Influenza, brochitis and myocarditis causing heart failure, at the age of 91 on September 26th, 1933 in St. Johns St. Kokstad, Mt. Curry. He was buried in Dutch Reformed cemetary Kokstad.Death Notes
