Johan Christiaan van Rooyen (John Christian)

Johan was born on May 23rd, 1847 in Kranskop, Natal and his baptism took place on November 14th, 1847.  Johan's father was Lucas Marthinus van Rooyen and his mother was Jacomina Aletta Potgieter.  His paternal grandparents are <Unknown> and <Unknown>. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Lucas, Gert, Hermanus, Cornelius, Frederick, Maria and Jacomina.  He was the third youngest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 47 on November 28th, 1894 in "Pauls Rust", Natal.
