Anna was born on August 12th, 1873 in Barkly East and her baptism took place on September 1st, 1873 in Barkley East. Anna's father was Petrus Jacobus Maartens and her mother was Maria Aletta Badenhorst. Her paternal grandparents were Joachim Hendrik Martens and Louisa Maria Grobbelaar; her maternal grandparents were Hendrik Johannes Badenhorst and Anna Louisa Vorster. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Hendrik, Pieter, Matthys, Gert, Maria and Louisa. She had two half-sisters named Elisabeth and Katrina. She died from cancer, Breast cancer, at the age of 60 on August 13th, 1933 in Matatiele. She was buried in Matatiele.General Notes
