Gerhardus (Gert) Johannes Maartens 
Gerhardus, known as Gert, was born on May 21st, 1867. Gert's father was Petrus Jacobus Maartens and his mother was Maria Aletta Badenhorst. His paternal grandparents were Joachim Hendrik Martens and Louisa Maria Grobbelaar; his maternal grandparents were Hendrik Johannes Badenhorst and Anna Louisa Vorster. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Hendrik, Pieter, Matthys, Anna, Maria and Louisa. He had two half-sisters named Elisabeth and Katrina. He died at the age of 96 on June 3rd, 1963 in 38A Ryde Av. Durban. He was buried in DURBAN, Stellawood, Cemetery and Crematorium.General Notes
On marriage certificate he is from Rietfontein.
Certificate signed by G(?) L.Maartens and A.C.Greyling. At the time he was from Rietfontein and she from Driekop.
Zachrya Catherina Sutherland also got married on that day to Jacob L. Myburg (double wedding) as well as Daniel Willem Maartens (Johannes) and Rene' Catharina Klopper
