Elizabeth Magdalena Margaretha Maartens 
Elizabeth was born on July 5th, 1897 and her baptism took place on December 19th, 1897 in Cedarville. Elizabeth's father was Abraham Lourens Daniel Maartens and her mother was Zachryda Catharina de Bruin. Her paternal grandparents were Hendrik Joachim Maartens and Elizabeth Magdalena van Jaarsveld; her maternal grandparents were Pieter Philippus Nicolaas de Bruin and Johanna Maria Magdalena van der Merwe. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Hendrik, Abraham, David, Pieter, Johanna, Magdalena, Zachryda and Petronella. She was the fifth oldest of the nine children. She had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Stephan, Adriaan and Helena. She died due to kidney failure at the age of 50 on February 25th, 1948 in Groote Schuur Hosp., Cape Town. She was buried in Maitland No. 3 Cemetery.General Notes
