Frederik Maartens

Frederik was born about 1752 in Cape of Good Hope and his baptism took place on February 27th, 1752 in Cape Town.  Frederik's father was Jasper Maartens and his mother was Catharina  van Laar.  His paternal grandparents were Anthony or Anton  Maartens and Sara Moller (Claassen). He had three brothers and four sisters, named Anthonie, Jacobus, Jasper, Anna, Sara, Maria and Aletta.  He was the second youngest of the eight children.
