Neeltje (Nellie) Johanna Maartens 
Neeltje, known as Nellie, was born on September 1st, 1895 in "Otterspoort", Cederville and her baptism took place on October 6th, 1895 in Cedarville. Nellie's father was Adriaan Lowrens Albertus Maartens and her mother was Aletta (Hannie) Johanna Magdalena van der Merwe. Her paternal grandparents were Hendrik Joachim Maartens and Elizabeth Magdalena van Jaarsveld; her maternal grandparents were David Frederik van der Merwe (Stephanus) and Sagryda Catharina van Dyk. She had seven brothers and four sisters, named Joachim, David, Adriaan, Matthys, <Unknown>, Johannes, Nicolaas, Catharina, Elizabeth, Aletta and Anna. She was the youngest of the twelve children. She died at the age of 53 on August 31st, 1949 in Durban. She was buried in DURBAN, Stellawood, Cemetery and Crematorium.General Notes
